Communities In Schools (CIS) of Nevada is thrilled to welcome Jenna Owen to its board of directors. Jenna’s appointment brings the CIS mission full circle as the first board member in Winnemucca, Nevada. As a community member who has spent years showing up for local students, Jenna will also help guide the organization’s direction at the state level.
A Familiar Face for Humboldt County Students
Jenna isn’t new to CIS. She has served on the CIS of Northeastern Nevada – Humboldt advisory council since 2024. Jenna’s been a steady presence behind the annual Prom Closet, which provides prom attire for one of Lowry and McDerrmit High School’s biggest nights, and Fill the Bus, a supply drive that stocks CIS resource rooms across the community with essential resources for local students to access directly on campus.
Through hands-on volunteering, sponsorship investments, and support for fundraisers, Jenna has helped expand resources for more than 3,000 students in Humboldt County alone.
A Career and a Calling Rooted in Community
By day, Jenna runs the American Pacific Mortgage branch in Winnemucca, and she and her husband own Owen Equipment. In her spare time, Jenna is devoted to supporting education and mental health services.
Jenna also serves on the Humboldt County School District Board, giving her a clear, on-the-ground understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing Humboldt County schools today.
When she’s not advocating for students, Jenna can be found enjoying time with her family, where they love exploring Nevada’s great outdoors.
Looking Ahead
Jenna’s addition to the board reflects CIS of Nevada’s continued commitment to bringing passionate, community voices into leadership.
CIS of Nevada looks forward to the perspective, energy, and heart Jenna brings as the organization continues to support students across the state.
