Support Students Like Dilan

“I believe being present matters,” shares Melisa Jacinto, CIS Site Coordinator at Hug High School. When Dilan was carrying the weight of his mother’s cancer diagnosis alone, Melisa showed up. By providing a safe space to open up, she helped him trade “wandering the halls” for A’s, B’s, and a renewed love for music and soccer. Watch the video to see how Dilan found the power within to achieve his goals and soon graduate Class of 2026.

Eldorado High School, Class of 2025 graduate Tony finished strong. For the past four years, his Site Coordinator, Ruby Corona has walked alongside Tony since his freshman year. Here’s what Tony has to say:

When I was a student at Eldorado High School, I had a lot on my plate. Navigating life’s obstacles that were beyond my control and trying to keep up with classes was overwhelming. My Site Coordinator, Ruby, was always there for me, providing basic needs, supplies and encouragement when I needed it most. With her support, I was able to graduate and begin building the future I dreamed of. Life after high school is busy. I’m working two jobs and attending college full-time. I also purchased my first car! None of this would’ve been possible without people like you who believe in students like me. Thank you!

Your support matters for students like me. I recently passed my CNA class to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. I’m six classes from my Associate of Science and just two biology classes away from submitting my nursing application. Robert, my former Site Coordinator, helped me stay on track and believe in myself despite daunting obstacles I was facing. Being awarded the CIS Elaine P. Wynn Stronger Together Scholarship made college possible to pursue my dream of nursing and serving others.
