Graduation really is right around the corner!

Whew! It’s getting busier and busier here as our students head into the end of the year! We at the CIS offices are privileged to take part in a lot of end-of-year celebrations at the different schools we serve and this week, we attended two high school celebrations generously sponsored by the Las Vegas Hospitality Association in conjunction with DR Horton at Canyon Springs High School and Exotics Racing at Valley High School.

It’s inspiring to see these students on the verge of taking their first steps into the post-high school world. They’re excited and nervous, happy to graduate and sad to leave friends and what they’ve known behind.

Food and cake provided by DR Horton eased that sting and the juniors and seniors enjoyed the celebration. Site Coordinators Adande, Shaqueena and Ana gave out certificates and awards to their seniors at Canyon Springs.

They also gave out words of wisdom and advice. One quote stuck with me and bears repeating – from author Audre Lorde – “If I didn’t define myself for myself, I would be crunched into other people’s fantasies for me and eaten alive.”

Valley High’s celebration featured guests from Exotics Racing and breakfast fare. CEO David Perisset had some inspiring stories about his own triumphs in the business world and the value of perseverance.

We have to thank LVHA for sponsoring the Canyon Springs resource room renovation, and funds for testing fees and caps & gown fees for the Springs seniors. Thanks to DR Horton, our Corporate Partner of the Year for providing the Springs celebration. And of course, thanks to Exotics Racing for sponsoring the Valley High resource room, cap & gown fees and the breakfast celebration!

Enjoy the photos from both events and have a great weekend!
