Communities In Schools of Nevada (CIS), the nation’s leading evidence-based stay-in-school organization serving 117 Nevada schools with regional offices in the Clark, Elko, Humboldt and Washoe County school districts, announces the appointment of Kathy Rudd to Director of Standards and Learning, and Milenia Silver to Administrative Assistant.
Kathy Rudd serves as Director of Standards and Learning for CIS and provides strategic leadership in developing, implementing and evaluating the organization’s program standards, training systems and learning initiatives. Rudd has nearly 15 years of education experience and previously held positions including principal, teacher and teacher coach in charter schools, CCSD, and Teach for America. She recently founded a K-8 charter school in Las Vegas. Rudd earned master’s degrees at Columbia University and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She is passionate about creating learning environments that support both adults and students to thrive as whole humans and brings a wealth of expertise to shape CIS’ integrated student supports model, program staff training, and implementation of core CIS programming.
Milenia Silver is an administrative assistant and is responsible for coordinating meeting room schedules and providing general support for CIS leadership and staff. She has diverse experience as a substitute teacher and working in customer service. Silver graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
