Communities In Schools of Nevada (CIS), the nation’s leading evidence-based stay-in-school organization serving 117 Nevada schools with regional offices in the Clark, Elko, Humboldt and Washoe County school districts, announces the appointment of Ana Givero to Development and External Affairs Specialist, Emily Elzeftawy to Public Funding Manager and Lauren Kaplan to Human Resources Business Partner.
Ana Givero serves as Development and External Affairs Specialist for CIS, a newly established role designed to support both departments in advancing strategic initiatives. Drawing on her experience as a former CIS Site Coordinator, Givero brings firsthand experience, a deep understanding of program implementation and stakeholder engagement, as well as strong communication skills. In her role, she supports key initiatives such as fundraising events, donor relations and legislative advocacy. Givero brings a strong focus on collaboration, data-driven strategy, and relationship-building to advance the organization’s mission and statewide impact.
Emily Elzeftawy is Public Funding Manager, overseeing more than $1.7 million annually in federal, state and local public funds. She leads the full grants lifecycle, including proposal development, submission, compliance and reporting, while managing contracts, sub-awards and multi-year grant budgets. Elzeftawy’s background spans both the nonprofit and government sectors, previously working at Southern Nevada Health District and CORE, a local nonprofit where she supported community-based programs and strengthened funding strategies to expand youth and family services. With her cross-sector experience, Elzeftawy has secured and stewarded multimillion-dollar grants that expand critical services and drive measurable impact. She is dedicated to building sustainable funding models and partnerships that strengthen infrastructures across Nevada.
Lauren Kaplan is Human Resources Business Partner for CIS. As a Las Vegas native with several years of human resources experience, she has served as an HR professional within various sectors including staffing, hospital, medical education and non-profit organizations. Kaplan was first introduced to CIS while completing an internship for her Bachelor of Science in Human Services. During this time, she was paired with CIS Site Coordinators at Clark High School to acquire experience in the nonprofit youth enrichment sector.
About Communities In Schools of Nevada
CIS places full-time and professionally trained site coordinators in 117 Title I and high-needs schools across Nevada to support nearly 100,000 students in grades K-12 who face barriers to their success—increasing the likelihood of students staying in school and graduating on time. The organization taps into a statewide network of more than 120 community nonprofits, partners, and agencies, bringing the community into the school to get students whatever they need to overcome the barriers they face that prevent them from achieving academically. From eyeglasses, dental care, health care, and professional counseling to food, school supplies, clothing, and housing, CIS identifies student needs and finds a way to address them, closing the gaps they experience in their everyday lives. CIS’s long-term vision is for every child enrolled in a Title I or high-needs school to access a CIS site coordinator and their evidence-based model of integrated student support, otherwise known as wraparound services. The graduation rate for CIS case-managed high school seniors in Nevada for the 2023-2024 school year was 97 percent.
