On June 27, 2025, NBA Hall of Famer, member of Communities In Schools (CIS) national board of directors, Boys & Girls Club Alumni Hall of Fame inductee, and founder of The Shaquille O’Neal Foundation, Shaquille O’Neal, was joined by local leaders and dignitaries to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Shaquille O’Neal Youth Complex — a transformative, $24 million project that will serve youth across Southern Nevada.
The press conference and ceremonial groundbreaking brought together leaders from across the region, including Shaquille O’Neal himself; Dr. Lisa Morris Hibbler, executive director of The Shaquille O’Neal Foundation; Sandra Douglass Morgan, president of the Las Vegas Raiders; Andy Bischel, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada (BGCSNV); and Tami Hance-Lehr, CEO and state director of Communities In Schools of Nevada. They were joined by Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom, Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill, CCSD Superintendent Jhone Ebert, and other distinguished guests to mark this exciting milestone.
The Shaquille O’Neal Youth Complex, slated for completion in late 2026, will span over 87,000 square feet and provide an array of academic, athletic, emotional, and enrichment services. The facility will include:
- A 33,000 square-foot state-of-the-art Boys & Girls Club facility
- A 54,000 square-foot Las Vegas Raiders-themed multi-sports field
- An early childhood education center
- Tutoring and mentoring spaces
- A UFC-themed MMA and boxing center
- Technology and innovation labs
- Mental wellness rooms
- A gymnasium
Among the most exciting features is the nation’s first-ever CIS “Achieve In Life” Alumni Center, made possible in part by the Elaine P. Wynn & Family Foundation. This one-of-a-kind space will be dedicated to providing ongoing support for CIS alumni after high school — offering resources, mentorship, and access to opportunity to help them thrive in adulthood.
As part of the celebration, CIS of Southern Nevada was proud to feature remarks from X’Zavier Webb, a 2021 Canyon Springs High School graduate, Power Within scholarship recipient, and CIS alumnus, who recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from Alabama State University and plans to become a judge. His story powerfully underscores the long-term impact of CIS and the importance of supporting students well beyond graduation. X’Zavier’s journey is exactly the kind of future this youth complex is designed to make possible for thousands more.
At Communities In Schools of Southern Nevada, our commitment to being All In For Kids is stronger than ever — and this project is a shining example of what’s possible when community, corporate, and philanthropic partners come together in service of youth. The Shaquille O’Neal Youth Complex is more than a building — it’s a beacon of hope and opportunity for students, families, and alumni across Southern Nevada.
