Here for Our Students
March 16, 2020
Dear Communities In Schools of Nevada Family,
Following Governor Sisolak’s announcement that all schools statewide are closed to help mitigate the growing public health crisis, Communities In Schools of Nevada and our statewide staff have been diligently collaborating to determine how to best support the 70,000-plus students we serve across the Clark, Elko, Humboldt and Washoe County School Districts.
Our team remains steadfast in our commitment to do all that we can to provide our students and their families with essential wraparound services while doing our part as good citizens to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We have been in contact with the four school districts in which we operate and other relevant governmental agencies to determine the specific details of how we can ensure continuity of care for those we serve.
Our organization stands hand in hand with a network of more than 100 nonprofits and agencies to remove whatever barriers exist in a student’s life to ensure they succeed in school and graduate. Today, we are reaffirming our commitment to the students and families we serve and thank our many nonprofit partners for their ongoing support — particularly in this time of crisis when demand for services is increasing exponentially statewide.
Communities In Schools of Nevada stands ready to do whatever it takes to help our families during this difficult time. We are committed to helping our students, our employees, and our community stay healthy while simultaneously delivering needed resources and services. While we continue to diligently innovate how to adjust our model to rise to this unprecedented occasion, public health, employee safety, and the ability to meet the needs of those we serve are our top priorities.
True to our namesake, we acknowledge it takes not just a village, but entire communities to support our state’s students and families living in poverty. During this period of uncertainty, we are all in this together.
Yours, in service,
